Supervision For Professionals

Supervision provides a fundamental support system for professionals working one to one with clients or with groups. Its function is to create an environment to discuss the therapeutic relationship in a confidential setting.

Supervision is an essential part of running a professional practice, with support for the individual being vital in the area of working one-to-one with clients.

Supervision focuses on who you are as a professional and looks at what you would like to achieve and how you can do this, as well as working with the therapeutic process of the work. Supervision reduces isolation and increases a sense of being part of a system where the professional is ‘held’ in their work.

The Couples Supervision Group is for experienced counsellors and psychotherapists who are making a transition to working with couples or already have a couples practice.

In this supervision group participants can present their couples work for supervision, as well as deepen their understanding through group discussion of the goals of couples work, clarifying relationship dynamics and forming a developmental perspective on what needs to be grown by each person to make the relationship more satisfying. Working with couples is best supported by making it an area of specialisation and being in a group enables participants to experience others’ work too.
