Juliet de Falbe

BACP Accredited Member

Juliet is a fully qualified and accredited therapist trained to help you with whatever difficulties you are facing. She offers a confidential space for children (age 11 upwards), adolescents, adults, and families.

It may be that you are very confused or unhappy and wonder how you are going to get through but please know that though things may seem bleak now there is growth through tough times, and this growth can start with what is often the most difficult thing: reaching out for help.

Juliet sees both adults and under 18's for therapy, for both short and long term and has lived in the southwest for 35 years, raising her three children here. Previously, she worked in an educational setting in a senior pastoral role, a job she loved. She has worked at both state and private schools, with experience of the latter being extensive. She particularly enjoyed the mental health side of the role and so decided to train as a counsellor and undertook both an adult training to degree level, and, once qualified, did an additional training in counselling children and young people, and became fully accredited.

Counselling for Children and Adolescents

You might be experiencing problems at school, feel alienated or misunderstood, have issues with your parents, or generally not feel like yourself.

Juliet can offer you a safe space to let you talk about how you feel. It often helps people because it's separate from school and home life and can help you get back to enjoying life, feel less lost and gain a stronger sense of who you are.

She sees young people who are having problems or want to work through past traumatic events. Whether it's depression, self-harm or mental health concerns or issues with parents or people at school, talking to a therapist can help.

Initially, Juliet will meet with you and your parents or guardians, to have a general discussion about the challenges you are facing. This is a chance for you and your parents to ask any questions about the process and get an idea of whether counselling is right for you.

Usually, clients say that once they have had a few sessions and start to understand counselling a bit better, it is a different relationship to others in their life. The approach is supportive, patient and kind, sometimes challenging, but always non-judgmental. She uses this approach to help her clients grow and change.

What is said between you both is strictly confidential, meaning after sessions I do not report back to your parents. However, if you are under 18 and there is a worry about your safety, Juliet would need to speak to your parents or caregivers. Whenever possible, she will inform you of this in advance of sharing anything we discuss.

Counselling for Adults

Therapy has helped thousands of people navigate difficult lives and past traumas. Through meeting regularly, we aim to help you tell your story. Juliet does this by listening respectfully and closely, seeking to understand and support rather than to judge.

Counselling offers something different to other relationships, it is a confidential space away from the pressures of 21st century life, a space in which you can learn to understand and then accept yourself, think about what is truly important to you and grow into a happier and more fulfilled life.

To achieve this change, Juliet uses aspects of both humanistic and psychodynamic theories. In brief, humanistic theory is based on the idea that when people are given the correct conditions they can grow as a person, find more meaning in their life and increase their self-acceptance. Psychodynamic theory looks at how past experiences and unresolved trauma in early relationships may be influencing relationships today and tends to be longer term work.

Juliet will work with you to explore any issues you choose to bring to therapy. Her approach is conversational with her primary aim to create an environment in which you feel able to explore aspects of yourself that may be causing pain. We don't always find it easy to allow our attention to focus on things that cause distress, especially if it means looking closely at ourselves. Counselling offers a protected space and a supportive relationship, in which this process of close attention can be made possible.

Juliet is fully insured, holds a DBS and is ICO registered.

Juliet’s fee is £75 for individuals, per 50 minute appointment.
