EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing is a specialist therapy that helps the brain to process past traumatic events that have not been explored. EMDR targets the areas of the brain where difficult memories are stored, working to reduce the distress attached to them.

It helps to alleviate and to change those feelings, emotions, thoughts and behaviours related to the trauma which still have a negative impact to your mental and emotional wellbeing today. This will allow your brain to heal from your trauma.

EMDR works by using bilateral stimulation, like guided eye movements or tapping while you are processing a distressing memory.

Traumatic memories can be triggered by sounds and smells and these can cause overwhelming feelings of fear, anxiety, anger or panic.

With EMDR you access those traumatic memories which combined with eye movements helps you reprocess what you remember from those negative events.

Reprocessing those memories will help you to heal and repair yourself from your trauma.

Those memories will no longer feel like you are reliving them and those feelings associated to your trauma will be much more manageable.

EMDR is widely used for PTSD , anxiety , depression and phobias.
