The stimulation of certain acupuncture points have been shown to affect areas of the brain that are known to reduce sensitivity to pain and stress, as well as promoting relaxation. Acupuncture may help relieve chronic pain by stimulating nerves located in muscles and other tissues which leads to the release of endorphins, reducing inflammation and improving muscle stiffness, joint mobility by increasing local circulation, thus aiding the dispersal of swellings.

Alison Courtney runs a pain clinic at The Terrace using traditional Chinese acupuncture. Alison is including auricular (ear) acupuncture free within the acupuncture treatment to support with the management of pain. Shorter pain focused appointments are available.
